The state government has halted the recruitment of over 200 teaching posts in the University of Mysore until further orders from the state. In a letter to the Vice Chancellor of the University, K. S. Rangappa, the Additional Chief Secretary of Higher Education Department, Bharat Lal Meena has stated to halt the process until further notification from the government.

Mr. Meena has pointed out that the university has not followed the roster system properly and it has not yet filled the backlog vacancies, which is needed for further recruitment. The State Legislature Committee on Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes had opposed the recruitment strongly and insisted that the university first deal with the backlog vacancies. Through two letters dated 4 and 26 March, the decision of the committee was conveyed to the university by the state government.
