Xavier School of Management launched a unique leadership and management programme for school teachers. This programme is aimed at those teachers who are currently into leadership roles or are moving into one.
About the Management Programme
This programme was conceived by CeRTEL (Centre for Research, Training, Education and Leadership), XLRI, and aims to enhance the effectiveness of the teaching community by improving their support structures.
The program is known as ‘PG Certificate in Applied Educational Leadership and Management’ and is being offered to the aspirants in collaboration with Fordham University, USA. It is a specialized Year-Long Online Course that has been designed to provide the following benefits to the aspirants:
- To improve leadership administration;
- To keep abreast of research & educational practices
- To enhance teaching and learning that further develops deeper understanding of the organization.
The program's curriculum includes sustained input, job-embedded activities, collegial discussions, and hands on project and is designed to provide participants with practical educational leadership skills.
The course module spreads across 12 months and is divided into 4 modules and 15 courses. Ten courses will be delivered in online mode through D2D (Desktop to Desktop) medium and the remaining 5 in workshop mode at XLRI campus.
Rev Dr Francis Peter, SJ Chairperson, CeRTEL, XLRI, said about the programme that, “Majority of the principals take over their roles as school administrators without any formal leadership and managerial training. They often only have their teacher diploma, and move on to run their institution.”

XLRI was founded in 1949 by Fr. Quinn Enright, S.J. in the Steel City of Jamshedpur. The institute shortlists candidates for its premium 2-year MBA programme via XAT (Xavier’s Aptitude Test) which is conducted annually. Recently, the institute has been ranked 9th as per the ranking list of National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), released by MHRD, GOI. The list considers more than 3,300 institutes across 20 parameters.
