The long list of 16 writers nominated for DSC Prize for South Asian Literature was announced on 16 October 2012. Among the 81 entries Amitav Ghosh and Jeet Thayil stood in the long list of 16 writers for this $50,000 award.
Jeet Thayil was selected for his debut novel Narcopolis and Amitav Ghaosh for his work in the novel the River of Smoke. The winner of this award would be announced at the DSC Jaipur Literature Festival scheduled to be organised in January 2013.
