She represents the Shalimar Bagh constituency. Gupta's leadership is expected to address pressing issues such as pollution and infrastructure development in Delhi. 

The elections saw the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Arvind Kejriwal, securing 22 seats. Kejriwal conceded defeat and extended his congratulations to the BJP. The voter turnout exceeded 60%, reflecting active civic participation.

Rekha Gupta, aged 50, is a lawyer by profession and has a strong background in student politics. She served as the President of the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) in 1996-97 and was involved with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the student wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
