Note Taking Just Got Smarter: Google Debuts NotebookLM in the US with Gemini AI

Google has finally launched its much-awaited NotebookLM for users. This will be a groundbreaking app that will help users to take notes and now it will be powered by Google’s new Gemini Pro AI.

The platform was announced in July 2023 during its I/O event and was initially named as Project Tailwind. It was available to a select group of users. Now, after its successful testing, it has become available to people in the United States who are 18 years and above and will be available in other countries soon. 

The company announced the release of this app through its Twitter (X) account stating: “We're launching an updated release of NotebookLM, an experimental product in Labs. Now available to anyone 18+ in the U.S., NotebookLM is also starting to use Gemini Pro and has new features to help you easily read, take notes and organize your writing”

What Is Google NotebookLM?

At its core, Google NotebookLM is an AI-powered assisting app that helps users to summarise information, collect ideas and provide new suggestions. 

Google in its blog mentioned: “NotebookLM is an experimental product designed to use the power and promise of language models paired with your existing content to gain critical insights, faster. Think of it as a virtual research assistant that can summarize facts, explain complex ideas, and brainstorm new connections — all based on the sources you select.”

• Collaboration: NotebookLM allows you to collaborate with others on your notes. You can invite others to view and edit your notes, and you can also use NotebookLM to discuss and share ideas.
