Started in the year 1996, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is one of the prestigious Test cricket series played between India and Australia.
It is named after two legendary cricketers, Allan Border from Australia and Sunil Gavaskar from India, who were both exceptional captains of their respective teams.
The series is organised under the International Cricket Council's Future Tours Programme, and the winner of a Test series claims the trophy. If the series ends in a draw, the current holder retains it.
