According to many sources, Yadav’s vote has been 50-50. He has also got votes from the Muslim community so it is difficult to say who is going to win. Yadav merged his party with Congress but in the end, he didn't get the seat so he decided to contest the election as an independent.
Purnia saw a three-cornered contest with Pappu Yadav fighting as an independent candidate against sitting MP Santosh Kumar Kushwaha of the JD(U) and Bima Bharti of the RJD.
