Ranks in the Indian Coast Guard

    Here you can find the ranking in the Indian Coast Guard. Director General is the senior most rank. There have been several questions asked in the competitive exams based on the rankings in the Indian coast guard.

    1. Director General: equivalent to Vice Admiral in the Navy

    2. Inspector General: equivalent to Rear Admiral in the Navy

    3. Deputy Inspector General*: equivalent to Commodore in the Navy

    4. Deputy Inspector General: equivalent to Captain in the Navy

    5. Commandant: equivalent to Commander in the Navy

    6. Assistant Commandant: equivalent to Lieutenant in the Navy

    7. Assistant Commandant**: equivalent to Acting Lieutenant in the Navy

    8. Assistant Commandant***: Midshipman

    *With three years seniority

    **Under training after completion of Phase III afloat training and during sub courses

    ***Under training after completion of Phase II afloat training
