Admission Form For Delhi Private Schools: The Delhi Government informed that the online application procedure for admission to entry-level classes for seats reserved under the economically weaker section (EWS), disadvantaged groups (DG), and children with disabilities categories for the academic session 2021 - 2022 in the private schools have begun today, 7th April. The new academic session has already begun in most schools for other students. Most schools in Delhi began their new academic session online, either on 1st April or this week.
As per the guidelines issued by the Delhi government’s Directorate of Education, the online admission application form for the reserved seats is now available and the last date for submitting the applications is 26th April. The first round of centralised computerised draw to select the students will be held on 30th April.
Reservation Policy
Under the Right to Education (RTE) Act of 2009, at least 25% of seats in entry-level classes - nursery, kindergarten, and Class 1 have to be reserved for EWS, DG (22%) and children with disabilities (3%). The admission procedure for these 25% reserved seats was delayed, which caused anxiety among parents trying to enrol their children in private schools of Delhi.
The reason for the delay in the admission application form for the reserved seats is the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, the application process for 75% of general category seats too had been delayed by over two months due to the pandemic. Last year also, a very small number of the selected candidates had reported till very late as the pandemic had uncovered soon after the first round of draw of lots.
