The Apex court is expected to list the matter for hearing on 21st February 2022. The plea has been filed by Advocate Anubha Srivastava Sahai, on behalf of students from over 15 different states.

Plea filed by Students
Students from over 15 states have filed a writ petition in the apex court seeking an alternative assessment method for upcoming board exams for classes 10 and 12. Anubha Shrivastava Sahai, an advocate and child rights activist, filed the petition along with the Student Union of Odisha-NYCS as the second petitioner.
The petition calls for alternate methods of assessing students of Classes 10, 11 and 12 in CBSE, CISCE, NIOS and state boards instead of holding offline board exams. It also asks for holding an improvement exam for those who are dissatisfied with the internal assessment exams.
The plea asks SC to form a committee to decide on an alternate formula for assessment, including those with compartmental or retest, and declare the result within a time limit and deadline.
Offline Board Exams
The problem with holding offline exams is that the time given to students to prepare for the Term 1 board exams held in November and December was much more (around eight months) compared to the time provided for Term 2 preparations (around two months) as the exam will be held in April-May.
Moreover, the two years of the pandemic have also created mental pressure on students and the volatility of the exam situation in these years has hampered the capacity of students to write subjective answers.
