CBSE provides both need-based and merit-based scholarships to support students studying in its affiliated schools. Here are the main scholarships available:

Single Girl Child Scholarship

• Who can apply: Girls who are the only child in their family, have scored at least 70% in the Class 10 CBSE exam, and whose family income is ₹8 lakh or less per year.

• Scholarship amount: ₹500 per month.

Board’s Merit Scholarship (BMS)

• Who can apply: SC or ST students who passed Class 10 or 12 with at least 85% marks.

• Scholarship amount: ₹12,000 per year.

Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship (CSSS)

• Who can apply: Students enrolled in regular college/university courses who scored above the 80th percentile in the Class 12 exams and whose family income is below ₹5 lakh per year.

• Scholarship amount: ₹12,000 per year for the first 3 years, and ₹20,000 per year in the 4th and 5th years.

CBSE offers need-based and merit-based scholarships to deserving students to provide financial assistance to students enrolled in its affiliated schools, as mentioned below:

Eligibility: single girl child students with gross family income of up to Rs 8 lakh per annum who have secured 70 percent or above marks in CBSE class 10 examination 

Award: selected students will receive an amount of Rs 500 per month

Eligibility: only for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates who clear class 10th or 12th exams with at least 85 per cent marks

Award: selected students will receive an amount of Rs 12,000 per annum

Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students (CSSS)

Eligibility: regular programme students with an annual income of less than Rs 5 lakh who ranked above the 80th percentile in the class 12 examinations 

Award: financial assistance of Rs 12,000 annually for the first three years, later increasing to Rs 20,000 per year for the fourth and fifth years

The scholarships are provided to students to excel in their studies without losing out on critical academic needs of their lives.

In the 2024 CBSE Class 10 and 12 board exams, regions like Trivandrum, Vijayawada, and Chennai performed very well, with high pass rates. Trivandrum topped the Class 12 results with a 99.91% pass rate, followed closely by Vijayawada and Chennai.

For 2025, the Class 10 pass rate is expected to be above 93%, as the exams were considered easy to moderate. For Class 12, the pass rate is likely to be around 87–88%. Based on previous trends, southern regions like Trivandrum and Vijayawada are expected to do well again.

Once results are out, students should check them online and report any mistakes in their provisional marksheets to their schools right away.

After the CBSE Class 10 and 12 results are declared, students can apply for revaluation or rechecking of their answer sheets. This process is likely to begin in late May or early June 2025. The revaluation fee is ₹100 per subject, and getting a photocopy of an answer sheet will cost between ₹500 and ₹700.

If a student fails in one or two subjects, they can take the supplementary exams, which are likely to be held from July 15 to 22, 2025. These exams give students another chance to pass. The results of these exams are expected in August 2025.

Students should also carefully check their provisional marksheets and immediately inform their school if they find any mistakes to avoid problems with their final certificates.
