Class 12 Students who are unable to take the March 15 board exam due to Holi celebrations will be entitled to take a supplementary exam, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced on Thursday. This extra test is usually scheduled for athletes and is administered following the standard exams.
"It has been informed to CBSE that, though the festival of Holi would be celebrated on March 14 in most parts of the country, in few places, either the celebrations would take place on March 15 or celebrations would spill over to March 15," CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj told PTI.
According to Bhardwaj, following the comments, it was determined that although exams will proceed as planned, students who are unable to attend on February 15 could opt to write the paper at a later time.
"It has been decided that such students would be given an opportunity to appear along with those students for whom a special examination is conducted as per the policy of the board for students participating in national or international sports events," he added.
CBSE Class 12 Board exams till April 4
Board exams for Classes 10 and 12 were administered by the CBSE starting on February 15. Examinees include more than 44 lakh students from 8,000 schools in India and outside.
To preserve the integrity of the tests, CBSE has released stringent instructions. Private candidates should dress in bright colors, whereas regular pupils are required to wear school uniforms.
Additionally, the board has identified a number of items that are not allowed in the exam room, such as smartphones, Bluetooth devices, earbuds, smartwatches, cameras, wallets, handbags, goggles, pouches, and unapproved study materials. Except for pupils with diabetes who have prior permission, food and beverages are not permitted.
