The Central Board of Secondary Education will soon open DigiLocker accounts for all the class 9 and 11 students from its affiliated schools to put their registration cards in the secure digital depository. A registration card for the class 9 and 11 students will contain details like the full name, subject chosen, date of birth of the students, etc which can be used the following year for the board examination.

A DigiLocker is a new initiative by the Ministry of Electronics and IT under the Digital India programme of the government. The DigiLocker aims at the Digital Empowerment of the citizens by providing them access to the authentic digital documents into the citizen’s digital document wallet. The documents issued in the DigiLocker system will be considered to be at par with the original documents as per the Rule 9A of Information Technology.

The registration card will help the board in preparing well in advance for the board examination as they will have a clear picture regarding the number of students who will be appearing for the different subjects and their details which will be needed to be printed in the mark sheets of the students. The registration card to be made in class 9 and 11 itself will help the students to identify and rectify errors in their spellings or the date of birth. With the amount of time in hand the board will be able to make the necessary changes that are required so that the mark sheets are error-free.

The process of downloading the registration cards from the CBSE portal for the different schools will begin from today, February 5, 2020. Students and parents are both required to sign the card after verifying the information.  In case of corrections, the rectification application has to be submitted via the schools. The DigiLocker accounts for the students will be opened by May 15, 2020, where the students will have to upload their registration cards.
