DU Admissions 2020: With Admissions Season underway already, Franternity Movement, a students’ organisation has asked the varsity to roll-back the ‘unjust fee’ hike that has been implemented for OBC students. Application Fee for OBC Candidates has been hiked for both undergraduate and postgraduate level students. With the university closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the threat, the students’ body has also requested students, especially OBC candidates, to launch a mass mail campaign to DU Administration to mount pressure for the roll-back of the fee.

Mass Mail Campaign Planned

As the University campus is currently closed due to Coronavirus pandemic, students’ group cannot plan any in-person protests or campaign. In line with this, the group has called upon OBC category students to launch a mass mail campaign to showcase the challenges that are faced by OBC candidates, especially the non-creamy layer candidates, in applying for admission to the university.

Application Fee for OBC Candidates Same as General Category Students

The campaign launched by Franternity Movement Students’ Group is aimed at rationalization of the application fee structure for OBC candidates. Currently, Delhi University charges Rs 100 as application fee for UG candidates from SC, ST, PWD and EWS candidates. However, the university has set the fee of OBC undergraduate candidates, for both creamy and non-creamy layers candidates, which is the same as General Category students. On similar lines, for admission to postgraduate level programmes, the application fee for OBC and General Category students is charged as Rs 700/-, as compared to Rs 300/- which is charged for reserved category candidates. The students’ group has termed the arbitrary fee structure as unjust and demanded roll-back of the same.
