How to Calculate CAT Percentile 2022: Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) Bangalore conducted the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2022 in three slots. As per reports, over 1.5 lakh candidates appeared for MBA entrance exam. Now, most of the candidates are calculating their CAT scores and percentile.
As CAT is conducted in different sessions in a single day, the scores of candidates are normalised. The scaled scores are converted to percentile for the shortlisting process. However, many are still wondering about - How to calculate CAT 2022 percentile? They can check the steps involved in the final calculation of the CAT 2022 percentile here.
How to Calculate CAT Percentile 2022?
CAT percentile is a relative score that shows the rank of the candidate as opposed to the rest of the MBA entrance exam takers. To calculate the CAT percentile 2022, the scores are normalized. The CAT scores normalization is done based on location, sessions, and the difficulty level of different papers. Considering all these criteria, a normalized score is obtained which is used for the calculation of the CAT percentile 2022. For example - if a candidate obtaines 99 percentile, that means their performance was better than 99 percentile of all the CAT test taker that year.
What Are the Steps To Calculate CAT Percentile 2022?
A CAT percentile decides the rank of the candidate who are willing to get admission in MBA/PGDM admission in top IIMs and top MBA colleges in India. The formula to calculate sectional as well as the overall CAT percentile of each candidate is the same, which is mentioned below -
- P= Percentile score
- R= Rank of the candidate assigned on the basis of scaled CAT score or the total number of candidates who rank below the respective candidate.
- N= Number of candidates who appeared in CAT (both morning and evening sessions)
Steps to Calculate CAT Percentile 2022
- Step 1: Calculate the total number of candidates (N) who appeared for CAT.
- Step 2: Assign a rank (r), based on the scaled scores obtained in the QA section, to all candidates who appeared for CAT. In the case of two or more candidates obtaining identical scaled scores in the QA section, designate identical ranks to all those candidates.
- Step 3: Calculate the percentile score (P) of a candidate with rank (r) in the QA section following the formula - P = (R/N) × 100.
- Step 4: Round off the calculated CAT percentile score up to two decimal points.
Formula to Calculate CAT Percentile - P = (R/N) × 100
