HRD Minister Ramesh 'Nishank' will be holding a live interactive webinar in which he will be speaking directly with the Vice Chancellors of Universities located across the country today i.e. 11th May 2020 at 4 PM in the evening. The webinar comes after UGC recently released a revised academic calendar as well as guidelines for universities and colleges for next year, keeping in mind the lockdown situation. According to a report filed by NDTV website, the core theme of the webinar is Higher Education post COVID-19 era'. The webinar will also be live streamed on the social media pages i.e. Facebook Page of the HRD Minister. Details available right now have confirmed that the live webinar for VCs is being organized by Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

Today’s live webinar being addressed by the HRD Minister comes as part of the series of Webinars that he has been hosting over the last few weeks to address queries of students and parents. The first webinar was held on 27th April 2020 and was dedicated to addressing and resolving queries of parents, who were concerned for the future of their children of wards due to lockdown. Thereafter, on 5th May 2020, HRD Minister interacted with students in a live webinar. In the webinar dedicated for students, the minister announced the examination dates for JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 Examinations. Today, Mr Pokhriyal will be interacting with vice-chancellors of universities based across the country and discussing with them the way ahead for higher education in the post-COVID-19 era.
UGC’s New Academic Calendar & Guidelines
The live webinar for vice chancellors of universities is being held amid the backdrop of the apex regulator of higher education i.e. UGC, releasing the guidelines and new academic calendar for varsities. According to the new academic calendar, UGC has directed varsities to hold annual / semester exams for students in July 2020, either in online or offline mode. Furthermore, for mid-semester students, the regulator has also recommended promotion on the basis of internal assessment if exams are not possible due to Coronavirus spread. In today’s interactions, vice chancellors of various universities will seek further clarification on these guidelines and put forth the challenges that they are facing.
