ICAI CA Exam 2019: As per the latest update, ICAI is planning to implement a technology aided evaluation process to check the answer books of CA Foundation and CA Intermediate students. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has confirmed that from CA November 2019 Exams, the answer books of candidates who appear for the CA Foundation and CA Intermediate Exams will be evaluated digitally. The Institute is planning to introduce several reforms in the examination process and system in the coming days prior to the ICAI CA November 2019.
Decision Following Adverse Reports
Providing clarification regarding the sudden move to transform the evaluation process to digital platform, the institute informed that the decision was taken following ‘certain adverse reports’ regarding the evaluation of answer sheets. Earlier, there were allegations of wrong doing and mismanagement during the evaluation of process of CA Exam 2019 surfaced on different platforms of Social Media. Addressing concerns of the students regarding irregularities in the evaluation process of answer books, ICAI issued a statement which advised the students "to be not to be misled and swayed by any tirade as ICAI stands committed to fulfil their genuine concerns".
Digital Evaluation for November 2019 and May 2020 Exams
Following the decision, the institute also informed that for now the digital evaluation process will only be followed for the entry-level CA Foundation Exams and the mid-level CA Intermediate Exams. The process will be implemented from the upcoming ICAI November 2019 Exam and will also be continued for May 2020 Exams.
Digital Evaluation to Address Variation in Marks
One of the key advantages of moving to digital mode of evaluation will be to address the variation in marks that occurs during the physical evaluation process. With digital evaluation process, the correction of answer books for foundation and intermediate exams would be done through technology aided solution. This will also help the institute do away with the process of physical handling of answer books and ensure complete transparency in the evaluation process. Furthermore, through digital evaluation process, the institute also plans to do away with any totalling errors and help in continuous review of performance of the examiners on real time basis.
