JNU Admission 2022: With several universities planning to adopt CUCET as the primary screening test for admission process, Jawaharlal Nehru University – JNU is also mulling the idea of adopting the same from the upcoming session. Media reports have confirmed that JNU’s Academic Council Meeting which is scheduled to be held on 12th January – Tuesday, will have CUCET as its one of the key agenda points. The university is seriously considering adoption of CUCET 2021 as the screening mechanism to streamline JNU Admission 2022 to various UG and PG courses offered by the varsity. Earlier in the week, Delhi University Vice Chancellor had also suggested that DU also will adopt CUCET for DU admissions from this academic session.
JNUEE Likely to be Scrapped
With the adopting of CUCET 2022 as the primary screening mechanism for admission process, the current entrance exam i.e. JNUEE is likely to be scrapped completely. JNUEE is the university-level entrance exam which was organized by NTA to screen candidates for admission to different courses offered by the university. However, with adopting of Central Universities Common Entrance Test – CUCET, it will be cancelled.
JNUSU, Students’ Union Unhappy with Decision
While the university officials are all set to meet today for the academic council meeting and discuss implementation of CUCET for admission process, the JNUSU – the university’s students union is not to keen for the same. An official from the JNUSU was quoted by media agencies as saying that "The JNU Vice Chancellor, has yet again chosen the period of pandemic to put an additional agenda to the Academic Council Meeting for passing CUCET, without any deliberation and discussion with the student community.” The JNUSU has repeatedly accused JNU Vice Chancellor of "bulldozing decision making and violating decision making bodies such as the Academic Council.”
