JNU issues warning against students caught violating COVID-19 lockdown guidelines

JNU issues warning against students

The Jawaharlal Nehru University has issued a notification asking its students to follow the lockdown rules imposed by the government and the university administration. This comes after a day when a student of JNU claimed to be manhandled by the security guards of the university for trying to get out of the campus amidst the lockdown. The notification states that the JNU campus residents must follow the rules of the lockdown or face disciplinary action for violating them.

The official notification which was released on the official website of the university on April 2, 2020, stated that i is unsafe and disgraceful that a few of the students of the university have been repeatedly violating the lockdown guidelines issued by the central government and the university administration which has been put in place for the protection of the students from the COVID-19 also known as Coronavirus pandemic spread across the country now. 

JNU COVID-19 Lockdown Notification

The notification available on the official website of the university has stated that in case a student is found repeating the offense action would be taken against them. The notification reads that those caught indulging in activities which endanger the health and safety on the campus residents of the university are warned not to repeat the same or else strict action will be taken against those violating the lockdown guidelines.

The university administration has also spoken on a section of the teachers of the university who issued a release supporting the students criticizing the university administration stating that the students have been directly and indirectly encouraged by a few of the staff members while the entire student community in the campus is cooperating with the COVID-19 guidelines issued by the university.

The JNU Teachers Association, however, have claimed that the JNUTA would caution the university administration and the Security personnel not to assume that they can get away with anything because of the conditions caused due to the lockdown by imposing responsibility on everyone to avoid actions that otherwise have been taken in response to what happened on the campus.
