Madhya Pradesh High Court has asked the private schools in the state to refrain from charging an arbitrary fee from students apart from the tuition fee. The order was issued by the High Court keeping in mind the problems faced by the parents during the lockdown amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
Collecting fee only after pandemic
The High Court has also asked the schools across the state to collect any kind of fee from the students only after the pandemic situation subsided in the state, along with directing the schools to collect the same amount of tuition fee is used to collect from the students before the pandemic hit the country.
Private schools in the state have also requested the High Court to allow them to collect the fee other than tuition fees from the students once the pandemic is done. However, this was faced with an objection from the parents who filed a plea against the schools demanding an arbitrary amount of fee. The court is scheduled to hear the same on September 10, 2020.
Schools in Madhya Pradesh stated that since they had continued with the online classes during the pandemic they should be allowed to collect all the parts of the fee. The court however denied any fee to be charged other than the tuition fee from the parents.
