NEET 2021 Eligibility Criteria
Before proceeding with the Phase 2 Registration for NEET 2021 exam, it is important for candidates to know and understand the eligibility criteria. In case, any candidate applies for NEET 2021 without meeting the eligibility criteria prescribed in the exam notification, their candidature will be cancelled. Therefore, it is important for medical aspirants to understand the eligibility norms and ensure that they conform to them before proceeding with the registration:
- NEET Qualifying Percentile: In order to be eligible for admission to Undergraduate Medical Courses, candidates from General Category will need to secure a minimum of 50th percentile in NEET UG exam 2021. For candidates belonging to SC / ST and OBC categories, the qualifying percentile will be relaxed to 40th Similarly, those candidates who have applied under PwD Category will need to fall above 45th percentile mark in order to be considered as qualified in NEET 2021 exam.
- Qualifying Exam Requirement: Another important eligibility aspect for UG Medical Admissions is the performance of candidate in the qualifying exam i.e. Class 12 or equivalent examination. In this regards, candidates need to secure a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology at the Qualifying Examination
NEET Merit List 2021 – All India Quota (AIQ) vs State Quota
After the NEET 2021 Medical Exam was made a mandatory exam for admission all medical college across the country, the total number of seats on offer for medical UG admissions was divided into two quotas i.e. AIQ – All India Quota and State Seat Quota. Candidates need to specify under which quota they plan to secure their medical admission seats at the time of registration.
- All India Quota (AIQ): After the declaration of NEET UG Result 2021, the exam authority i.e. NTA will prepare merit list of the eligible and successful candidates who have opted for 15% All India quota seats. This list is then sent to Directorate General of Health Services (Medical Examination Cell), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, and Ministry of AYUSH, Govt. of India for allotment of seats at the All-India level.
- State Quota List: After the declaration of NEET UG Result 2021, the candidates who have opted for state-quota seats, will be facilitated admission at the state-level by the authority that is incharge of UG Medical Admission. The state-quota seats are also allotted on the basis of NEET Score and NEET Rank 2021 secured by the candidates.
