Mumbai School Holiday: Schools and Colleges in Mumbai and suburban areas will remain closed today, September 26, 2024. School holiday has been declared amidst the red alert issued by the India Meteorological Department for heavy rains.
The school holiday announcement was made by Schools Education Minister, Deepak Kesarkar as heavy rains lashed Mumbai. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has also announced the holiday for schools and colleges as a precautionary measure as the IMD issued the red alert predicting extremely heavy rainfall until 8:30 am today.

According to the notification issued, all schools and colleges under BMC’s jurisdiction will remain closed on thursday considering the safety of the students. BMC has also appealed to citizens not to set out of their homes until absolutely necessary. Commuters have also been advised to check the weather updates and plan accordingly.
Mumbai has been receiving heavy rain since Wednesday afternoon overwhelming low-lying areas, stopping local training on tracks between Kurla and Thane stations stranding passengers.
