Mizoram Schools to Reopen for Class 9 and 11 Students from 22nd February, Know SOPs, Guidelines Here

Mizoram School Reopening News: As per the latest update, the Mizoram State Government has given permission for reopening of Schools for Class 9 and Class 11 students from next Monday i.e. 22nd February 2021. Earlier, the state had reopened Schools for Class 10 and 12 students from 22nd January onwards, keeping in mind the upcoming Board Exams. Schools have been closed in Mizoram since March last year due to the spread of COVID-19. Schools in Mizoram will reopen after a gap of 11 months. Keeping in mind the current situation in the state, the state will reopen schools in line with the COVID-19 precautionary guidelines issued by the Health Ministry and State Education Department.

Guidelines and SOPs to be Released

Keeping in mind the current situation in the state, the State Government has issued specific guidelines to ensure safe return of the students back to the campus. The key guidelines and SOPs to be followed as part of the school reopening process are as follows:

  • Thermal Screening: All students and staff members will have to undergo thermal screening before entering their school premises.
  • Face Masks Compulsory: During their stay at the campus, all students would be required to wear face masks compulsorily.
  • Hand Hygiene: students and staff members have been advised to regularly sanitize their hands. Schools have also been asked to make arrangements for hand sanitizers and soaps.
  • COVID Negative Test Mandatory: All students are required to produce a COVID-19 negative report at-least 96 hours prior to returning back to hostel.
  • Sanitization of Campus: All classroom and common areas of the schools are to be sanitized thoroughly in line with the SOPs.
  • Alternative Seating Arrangements: To ensure that students are able to follow social distancing guidelines, schools are advised to follow alternative seating arrangements with proper spacing between students.

Schools for Lower Classes from March

As per media reports, along with reopening of schools for Class 9 and 12 students, speculations have been ripe about reopening of schools for students of lower classes as well. To clarify doubts on this front, School Education Department director James Lalrinchhana has issued a statement saying that classes for students for lower classes would commence from March 2021 onwards. However the final decision in this regards would be conveyed by the state government after reviewing the COVID-19 situation then.
