According to a recent notification issued by the UGC, the University Grants Commission has extended the last date for submitting applications for the online courses and other courses under Open and Distance Learning mode for the February-March session until April 30, 2021. According to the notification, all the universities and higher education institutions that are offering online courses for the current academic year can continue accepting online applications from the candidates.
The decision to extend the online application was taken in the 550th Commission meeting held on February 18, 2021. be
Admission notification to be updated on the respective website
The universities are also required to ensure to update their admission notification on their respective websites and also open the application window until April 30, 2021. The admissions will be accepted on the UGC DEB web portal and after the application window closes the participating universities and colleges are required to upload their admission details on the portal by May 15, 2021.

The application schedule has been extended in order to help with the admission process for the candidates who are facing problems submitting the applications due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The UGC has been offering Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCS) using the government's SWAYAM portal. The UGC has also asked the higher education institutes and academics to develop online courses for the portal.
The UGC has in December announced 78 undergraduate and 46 postgraduate non-engineering Massive Open Online Courses.
