More than 450 students from India as well as abroad took part in a 3-day event at ‘Amity International Model United Nations’ (AIMUN) held at Amity University, Noida on 23 November 2013.
The event witnessed the students playing role of UN Delegates in 8 Councils as follows - General Assembly, Security Council, UNESCO, CCPCJ, Futuristic Security Council, UNFCCC, RAW and NATO. The captivating part included discussions and debates upon numerous main issues of the world such as cyber war, arms and ammunition trafficking and terrorism, equal access to women education, the future of nanotechnology, North Korea’s nuclear program, corruption, water-ice cap melting, thermal expansion, ground water depletion, and many more.
DPS, Mathura Road represented Japan, DPS, Amity International School in Saket represented Russian Federation, G D Goenka Public School of Vasant Kunj represented Pakistan, Tagore International School in Vasant Vihar represented India and Amity International Noida represented Canada in the AIMUN 2013. They all were recognized with "Best Delegation Awards."
Ambassador of Hungary in India, Janos Terenyi, UN resident coordinator as well as UNDP’s Indian representative, Lise Grande and Amita Chauhan, chairperson of Amity International Schools were seen present at the event and congratulated the student delegates for their remarkable performance.
In the function, students from France, Spain, Slovenia, Italy, Germany, USA, Maldives, Mauritius, and Kazakhstan came forward and participated.
In the event, the exceptional delegates in each group were awarded with "Best Delegate and High Commendation Award". Whereas, the delegates who submit the Best Paper in their respective committee before the conference were honoured with "Best Position Paper Award" while those excelled in all the areas were bestowed with "Best Delegation Awards".
