Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission is going to conduct its State Service Main (Written) Exam 2012 from 22 March 2014. To view detailed scheme of the CGPSC Main (Written) Exam, Click Here. The CGPSC Main (Written) Exam consists of seven papers each of 200 marks and 3 hours duration.
The Paper V of the CGPSC State Service Main (Written) Exam consists of Economy and Geography. The paper comprises of conventional subjective type questions. The questions range from very short and short to long essay type questions.
The Economy section consists of questions related to basic terms and concepts of Economy including terms related to Budget, Fiscal Policy, Monetary Policy, Economic Planning including 12th Five year plan, various Socio-economic issues of the country like Unemployment, State-Centre financial relations and Finance Commission.
Questions can also be asked from Chhattisgarh state’s Economy, including Chhattisgarh budget, various sectors of the economy, and economic problems of Chhattisgarh. The candidates also need to be thorough with the Schemes and Programmes launched by the Central and State government to tackle various socio economic issues.
The candidates must read class 11 and 12 NCERT Economy books to get thorough with the basic terminology along with standard Economy text books for getting further clarity on Economic concepts. Getting current updates related to the Fiscal and Monetary policy and various economic issues is also very important and for this the candidates can refer to Jagranjosh. It can also be done by going through one national and one regional newspaper daily.

The Geography section can have questions related to both Indian Geography and Geography of Chhattisgarh state. The focus will remain on the Chhattisgarh state’s geography which can include the state’s physical features including important rivers, Chhattisgarh’s agriculture, the state’s Resources, major Power plants, Chhattisgarh’s Demographic features, and Biogeography including Soil, Vegetation and Forests, etc. The important National parks and Wildlife sanctuaries are also included under the Geography section.
