The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET), held every year by the body, would get postponed in the flood-hit Jammu and Kashmir. The CTET was scheduled to take place in Srinagar this year for the candidates from Jammu and Kashmir. On viewing the current situation caused due to the severe floods in Jammu and Kashmir, the board has decided to take the examination later. The examination was scheduled to begin from September 2014.
Apart from Srinagar, the CTET test would be conducted all over the nation in its decided centers on 21 September 2014. The next date for the CTET examination in Srinagar would be announced soon by the board and for the same a public notice would get issued as well.
The CTET test is conducted by CBSE every year to test a candidate’s ability to teach students from standard I to VII. The whole CTET programme was initiated to maintain the standard of teaching consistent through the whole nation. It acts as the benchmark for the teacher’s quality in the recruitment process.
