IIFT 2017 Exam Date to be postponed to avoid clash with CAT 2017

MBA aspirants were in for a surprise when CAT 2017 and IIFT 2017 MBA entrance exam dates were announced. For the first time, both the MBA entrance exams are scheduled to take place on the same day i.e. 26th November 2017. This created a situation where MBA aspirants had to choose between the two of the most important MBA entrance exams, as both the exams are to take place on the same day.

Addressing the dilemma that MBA aspirants were under, the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) is planning to postpone their admission test to allow candidates to appear for both the exam. The news has been a major relief for the candidates as this ends the confusion about whether to apply for CAT 2017 or IIFT entrance exam. Candidates can now proceed to apply for both the exams.

    CAT 2017: Detailed Exam notification

The official statement from IIFT reads “The issue related to clashing of date of MBA (IB) Entrance exam with CAT, is being resolved. You will be updated soon on the issue.” We would also keep you guys updated about all the developments with regards to this and the new IIFT MBA Exam date on our website.

Why CAT 2017 vs IIFT 2017?

CAT 2017 is the biggest MBA entrance test in India with nearly 2 lakh MBA aspirants taking the exam to seek admission to premier B-schools across the country. On the other hand, IIFT 2017 entrance exam is aimed at nearly 60000 MBA aspirants who are interested taking up the flagship MBA in International Business programme at the institute. Jagranjosh.com had already anticipated the clash of the two major MBA entrance tests and given a detailed account earlier. You can read about it in detail below.

    Dilemma of MBA aspirants

While CAT 2017 remains the primary MBA entrance exam of the country that gets you admission to top B-schools across the country including the IIMs, the CAT 2017 score is not accepted by IIFT for admission purposes. Similarly, none of the IIMs or even other participating institutes including FMS Delhi, SPJIMR – Mumbai and others do not accept IIFT score for admission. This puts the MBA aspirants choosing either of the B-school entrance exams at a big disadvantage.

Change in IIFT 2017 Exam Date

It is very unlikely that CAT 2017 will change their exam date as they have a large number of candidates applying for it. This leaves only one option i.e. postponement of IIFT MBA admission test dates. Taking into consideration the problem of MBA aspirants, IIFT has already begun the process of reissuing the admission notification and changing the dates for IIFT 2017 Exam.

As per the latest buzz, the IIFT is likely to either pre-pone it’s exam date to 19th November or the same would be delayed until 3rd December 2017.

The official notification for the change in IIFT Exam dates is yet to be announced. We would provide the detailed account of the changes in IIFT Exam dates along with other changes like application deadline and admit card issue dates on mba.jagranjosh.com.
