Given the increased number of seats for management courses, Indian Institutes of Management are anticipating at least 10% rise in the number of registrations for the Common Admission Test 2013 (CAT 2013). Around 115 seats have been added that makes a total of 3,335 seats available across the 13 IIMs.
Besides adding more seats this year, IIMs has also decided to give extra points to women during admissions, which further makes organizers to expect a bigger participation by female candidates.
However, the number of women applicants for CAT has been increasing steadily, from 53,700 in 2010 to 56,000 in 2011. In 2012 CAT, above 60,800 female candidates appeared in the Exam.
Amid all the new moves taken by IIMs from CAT 2013, the other good one is introducing e-vouchers along with the regular sale of paper vouchers. Moreover, four new testing locations will also be added for CAT 2013; those are Surat, Udaipur, Trivandrum and Vijayawada.
The number of CAT takers for over five years has been on declination. However, last year the number of registration increased but marginally with a total registration of 2, 14,068 applicants.
