Percentile is denoted by xth

JEE Advanced Marks vs JEE Advanced Percentile

Here are key differences between JEE Advanced Marks and JEE Advanced Percentile

    • Percentage is broad and diverse in nature whereas percentile is more specific
    • The former is calculated with the use of various value sets whereas the latter is calculated after a thorough comparison of the given dataset
  • Percentage is based on marks and represents a whole portion whereas percentile is based on percentage and represents rank or position.

How to Calculate JEE Advanced Percentile

The complete process for calculating JEE Advanced 2024 percentile has been presented below. Students can go through the stepwise instructions laid down below.

  • Count the total number of candidates appeared from the session with raw score equal to or less than Total score
  • Take the total number of candidates who appeared in the session
  • Use the formula:

Total Percentile: 100 X 𝑁𝑜. 𝑜𝑓 𝐶𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑖𝑑𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑠 𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑒𝑑 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑠𝑒𝑠𝑠𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑟𝑎𝑤 𝑠𝑐𝑜𝑟𝑒 equal to or less than 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑛 𝑇otal 𝑆𝑐𝑜𝑟𝑒 ➗ Total No. of Candidates appeared in the session

Subject-wise Percentile

    • Use the same formula
    • The comparison must be made with the individual subject scores.
    • For mathematics, use the total number of candidates who appeared from the session with a raw score equal to or less than the Mathematics score
    • For physics, use the total number of candidates who appeared in the session with a raw score equal to or less than the Physics score
