As per the notification released by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for IIT JEE 2018, the engineering entrance exam will be conducted in two modes – Offline mode i.e. pen-paper based test and Online mode i.e. computer-based test. Students appearing for JEE Main 2018 can take the exam either in online mode or offline mode for B.E/B. Tech, however, for Paper 2, they can only appear in pen-paper based test mode. JEE Main 2018 Exam Pattern Features for Paper 1 for B.E/ B. Tech candidates
Test mode – Candidates can choose from two modes i.e. Online mode or Offline mode. Where, for the online exam they have to appear in Computer Based Test (CBT) and for the Offline exam, they can appear for Pen-Paper based test which requires candidates to mark their answers on an OMR sheet.
Test Duration – For both papers and every shift candidates will be provided 180 minutes only i.e. they will 1 hour for each section of the JEE Main 2018 test paper. In case of PWD candidates, one hour extra has been provided in JEE Main 2018 exam duration i.e. they get 4 hours to attempt the test paper.
Subjects – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
Test Medium/Languages – This year, JEE Main 2018 question paper will be in English and Hindi. However, for exam centres in Gujarat, Daman and Diu as well as Dadra and Nagar Haveli, the question paper of JEE Main 2018, the test paper will also be available in Gujarati besides English and Hindi.

Question weight-age for JEE test paper – The question paper of JEE Main 2018 offline and online exam carries a total of 90 MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions). That means each section of JEE Main 2018 paper 1 will have equal weightage of 30 questions each.
JEE Main 2018 Marking Scheme – Each question of JEE Main test paper 2018 carries 4 marks which means the complete test paper carries 360 marks in total.
Marking in case of wrong attempts – For every question which is attempted incorrectly, one-fourth of allotted marks will be deducted i.e. 1 mark.
JEE Main 2018 Exam Pattern Features for Paper 2 for B. Arch candidates
Test mode – The paper 2 of JEE Main 2018, will be available in pen paper mode only
Subjects – Mathematics, Aptitude and Drawing
Test Duration – same as JEE paper 1, i.e. 3 hours and in case of physically handicapped candidates, it is 4 hours.
Test Medium/Languages – English, Hindi and Gujarati (for some exam centres only)
