NEET PG Counselling 2026: The Medical Counselling Committee will begin the registration process for NEET PG Round 1 admissions on October 12, 2026. NMC has already issued the NEET PG Seat matrix for candidates. Institutes will begin the verification of the tentative seat matrix tomorrow, October 10, 2026. Participating institutions can verify the category-wise seats and get any errors rectified by October 12, 2026. 

With the registrations about to commence, students who have cleared their NEET PG entrance exam need to keep all necessary documents ready with them. The scanned copies of the documents are to be submitted online in the application form. While the documents required for regular candidates remain standard, the documents to be submitted by candidates applying under the NRI quota will slightly vary depending on the category under which they will be applying for NRI Quota admissions.

Who can Apply Under NRI Quota Admissions

NEET PG Admissions for the NRI quota are conducted for those who fall under the NRI category. Given below are the conditions under which a candidate can be offered a seat under the NRI quota.

  • If any one of the parents of a student is an NRI and residing abroad, then the candidate is eligible for NRI quota admissions

  • If the first-degree relation of the student is an NRI and residing abroad, then such candidates are eligible for admissions under the NRI Quota. This particular definition will include real brothers and sisters, over and above the mother/father as the first-degree relation.

Category I: NRI Candidate/ Parents/ Real Brother/ Real Sister

Candidates falling under this category must have the following documents with them for admission purposes.

1. Date of Birth Certificate.

2. 10th mark sheets and passing certificate/Equivalence Certificate for Class X from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)/ Certified Transcript.

2. 12th mark sheets and passing certificates/ Equivalence Certificate for Class XII from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)/ Certified Transcript.

3. MBBS 1st, 2nd, 3rd Professional Examination marksheets.

4. If MBBS is from outside India, then FMGE scorecard is required.

5. NEET-PG scorecard issued by NBE.

6. Valid Passport of the candidate.

7. NRI Certificate issued by the Competent Authority (Embassy / Indian Consulate).

8. Affidavit (on Rs 100 stamp paper, notarised) by the NRI parent/ Real Brother/ Real Sister stating that they will sponsor the entire course fee and living expenses of the candidate (son/daughter) during the period of study, supported by NRE/NRO Bank Account Passbook.

9. Relationship to be verified by a competent revenue authority officer (Tehsildar/ Patwari/ Government Officer in Revenue Department).

Category II: OCI Candidates

Candidates applying for NRI category admissions under OCI must keep the following documents ready with them

1. Date of Birth Certificate.

2. 10th mark sheets and passing certificate/Equivalence Certificate for Class X from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)/ Certified Transcript.

3. 12th mark sheets and passing certificates/ Equivalence Certificate for Class XII from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)/ Certified Transcript.

4. MBBS 1st, 2nd, 3rd Professional Examination marksheets.

5. If MBBS is from outside India, then FMGE scorecard is required.

6. NEET-PG scorecard issued by NBE.

7. Valid Passport of the candidate.

8. Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Card

Category III: Foreign National

Candidates applying for NRI admissions as Foreign Nationals must have the following documents ready with them

1. Date of Birth Certificate.

2. 10th mark sheets and passing certificate/Equivalence Certificate for Class X from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)/ Certified Transcript.

3. 12th mark sheets and passing certificates/ Equivalence Certificate for Class XII from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)/ Certified Transcript.

4. MBBS 1st, 2nd, 3rd Professional Examination marksheets.

5. If MBBS is from outside India, then FMGE scorecard is required.

6. NEET-PG scorecard issued by NBE.

7. Valid Foreign Passport of the candidate.

8. Citizenship certificate.

Category IV: Indian to NRI

Candidates who filled their category as Indian in the NEET PG form and now want to change to the NRI category for counselling must have these documents with them for admissions

1. Date of Birth Certificate.

2. 10th mark sheets and passing certificate/Equivalence Certificate for Class X from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)/ Certified Transcript.

2. 12th mark sheets and passing certificates/ Equivalence Certificate for Class XII from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)/ Certified Transcript.

3. MBBS 1st, 2nd, 3rd Professional Examination marksheets.

4. If MBBS is from outside India, then the FMGE scorecard is required.

5. NEET-PG scorecard issued by NBE.

6. Valid Passport of the candidate.

7. NRI Certificate issued by the Competent Authority (Embassy / Indian Consulate). 8. In case of sponsorship by a legal guardian (in the past), evidence of relationship between the NRI and the candidate 

Candidates are also required to submit an Affidavit (on Rs 100 stamp paper duly notarised)from the person claiming to be their guardian, affirming that: 

i. The guardian has been a bona fide guardian of a candidate and has been taking care of the candidate for the past few years. 

ii. The guardian has been providing the necessary financial, educational and other support to the candidate. 

iii. The NRI that he/she will sponsor the entire course fee and living expenses of the candidate during the period of study, duly supported by an NRE (Non-Resident External) Bank Account Pass Book. 

iv. The particulars furnished in the affidavit are true and correct, and the guardian shall be responsible for the authenticity of the claim. 

v. The candidate/guardian shall also be required to submit documentary evidence in support of the claim of guardianship, such as, but not limited to: 

i. School/college fee receipts showing payment by the claimed guardian; 

ii. Educational records or other documents reflecting the guardian’s involvement in the candidate’s education; 

iii. Bank/payment records evidencing financial support

iv. Any other relevant documentary evidence establishing that the person has been genuinely taking care of and supporting the candidate for the requisite period. 

Process for the NRI Document Submission, Verification And Conversion Of Category

Step1: Selection of the NRI Quota: Candidate must select NRI Quota at the time of Registration for 2026 counselling. Candidates who selected the NRI option during the NEET exam conducted by NBE will also have to select the NRI Category at the time of registration on the MCC portal. 

Step 2: Selection of subcategory: Candidates must select the sub-category as mentioned 

Step 3: Uploading of supporting documents as per updated list mentioned above:  Candidates who want to get category converted from Indian to NRI will upload supporting documents as mentioned in the above list at the time of Registration on the MCC portal. 

Step 4: Online Document Verification: The NRI Document Verification Committee (DVC) of MCC will scrutinise the uploaded documents online.

Step 5: Discrepancy Found:  If a discrepancy is found in online verification, the scrutiny committee raises a document discrepancy query. 

Step 6: Notification to Candidate: Candidates will be notified through SMS and Email regarding the discrepancy/ deficiency found in the documents. 

Step 7: Correction Window:  A correction window will be provided to candidates to resolve the query within the stipulated time as per schedule. During this period, candidates can edit/ modify their uploaded documents w.r.t. the discrepancy found by the scrutiny committee and submit correct documents online, if any, within the stipulated time as per schedule. 

Step 8: Category Converted Online:  If all documents are found to be in order, the category of the candidate will be converted from Indian to NRI. 

Step 9: Eligible for NRI Choices:  Once the category of the candidate is converted from Indian to NRI, the candidate will become eligible to access the NRI category seat list and select choices of NRI quota seats. 

Step 10: A candidate can also participate in round 2 if not able to produce the document in round 1, as mentioned in step 7 in stipulated time as per the schedule.
