About NMAT by GMAC

Narsee Monjee Institutes of Management Studies (NMIMS) was the conducting body of NMIMS Management Aptitude Test (NMAT by GMAC). But in 2015 NMAT by GMAC exam was acquired by Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). Since then it is known as NMAT by GMAC. Now admission to management programmes at NMIMS is done through NMAT by GMAC by GMAC exam. NMAT by GMAC is conducted in 75 days window, meaning aspiring candidates can take the test anytime between the test window. Candidates will be given three attempts to appear in the exam. The scores of NMAT by GMAC 2011 exam are accepted by over 22 institutes in India.

SECTION-I: QUANTITATIVE ABILITY -

1) The level was moderate.

2) It covered almost every topic of mathematics.

3) The topics covered were as under:

  4. Data sufficiency
  5. Averages
  6. Mixture
  7. Percentage
  8. Profit and Loss
  9. Time and work
  10. Speed, distance & time
  11. Co-ordinate Geometry [Maximum weightage given]

SECTION-II: VERBAL ABILITY -

1) This section was very easy, if taken as a whole.

2) This year the Verbal Ability section required proper knowledge of English Grammar to perform well and score high.

The NMAT by GMAC 2011 exam was similar to last year. There was no negative marking in the test which made it mandatory for students to attempt each question. As per the feedback received from test takers, speed was required to score higher as accuracy was not a problem. Also the NMAT by GMAC 2011 exam was on the easier side. Apart from this the NMAT by GMAC 2011 cut off was on the higher side considering the easy level of the exam. This year too NMAT by GMAC considered the best score from the 3 attempts for final admission.
