The National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA) is all set to improve the teaching and miscellaneous standards and evaluation framework of all government schools nationwide. The objective of this initiative is to enhance school performance based on national best practices and international comparative experience.
HRD Minister Smriti Irani has replied to a Rajya Sabha Question that Government has commissioned NUEPA to develop a national school standards and school evaluation/assessment framework for the government school sector.
Prior to this, many States like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Karnataka have developed programmes to evaluate and grade their schools.
NUEPA has been established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India to deal with capacity building, planning and management of education in South Asia. It was conferred the status of Deemed to be University in August, 2006.
