Jan 12, 2015 14:40 IST

Those candidates who have filled up application forms for the State Bank of India Associate Bank Clerk examinations would now be gearing up for the written examination that is scheduled soon. The candidates would be preparing themselves for the examination and would be giving their best to crack the examination and get one step closer to getting selected for the positions. The candidates after successfully getting over the written examinations need to go through personal interview round to get selected for the positions. The written examination consists of five papers which contain 200 marks and the candidates are given 2 hours 15 minutes time to solve all the questions. The questions are objective type and there are negative marks for every wrong evaluation of the questions in part of the candidates. The candidates need to pass individually in each of the paper and have to score the overall cut-off marks to go through to the interview round as well. Thus it is very important for the candidates to give emphasis on the overall examination and score well in each of the papers.

The Reasoning ability paper among the five papers is a tricky one to crack and needs immense practice and devotion to get solved. This is one paper which contains questions which are tricky and could be solved only if the candidates apply the formulas necessary. Thus it becomes important for the candidates to give ample amount of time to prepare for these questions and solve sets and model question papers with a stopwatch beside them to keep track of the time as well. The paper alone could make or break your chances of getting through to the examination as they can trick the candidates and waste a lot of their time over some question or the other. Hence it is advisable to move along to the other questions if someone is stuck with certain question and get through in the paper.

    Tips and Strategies

    • Constant Practice: The main mantra for the paper is constant practice and there is no shortcut for it. The candidates willing to clear the written examination need to constantly practice and go through various new patterns and questions through solving different sets and model question papers. This allows the candidates to become confident while solving the questions in the examination and provides them the adequate vigor to go forward solving other papers.
    • Keep track of the time: If you have to succeed in the paper you need to keep track of the ticking clock. There are almost 40 questions that this paper contains and the time allotted to solve each of the questions remains very less. Thus the candidates have to practice in such a way that they can manage to solve all the questions in allotted time and that could only be done if they keep an eye in the stopwatch while preparing.
    • Invent your ideas and formulas: It is very important to use tricks and formulas in this paper to become successful as general approach for solving the paper could never allow the candidate to score well in the paper. Thus it is important to branch out your own ideas on solving a certain question or a type of question along with keeping the set norms in mind. This helps in solving tough and typical questions in a more subtle and easier way, which saves a lot of time in part of the candidate.
    • Be patient and Confident: While solving the paper the candidates need to be very focused and confident, as a single mistake in the process of solving an answer could lead to a devastating result to the candidate. Hence, it is very important to keep your concentration completely on the question that is being handled at a time.
