SBI Clerk Numerical Ability Preparation Tips 2025: The State Bank of India (SBI) junior associate exam is scheduled to be conducted on February 22, 27, 28 and March 1, 2025. The SBI Clerk syllabus will consist of subjects such as English language, numerical ability and reasoning ability. The  numerical ability section is one of the most difficult and time-consuming sections of the preliminary and mains examinations. 

Candidates who are going to attempt the Associate examination must have their own unique strategy to tackle this section. From the numerical aptitude section, 35 questions will be asked and candidates will have 20 minutes to answer as the SBI Clerk exam contains sectional timings.

SBI Clerk Numerical Ability Preparation Tips 2025

Questions from the numerical ability section will be asked in both stages of the selection procedure, i.e., prelims and mains. In the SBI  Clerk numerical ability section, the accuracy and speed will be checked and the candidates often struggle with speed and accuracy, which are important for clearing the SBI Clerk cut-off.

The numerical ability section consists of topics such as arithmetic, data interpretation, simplification, number series, etc., and the difficulty level of the topic varies from easy to moderate, but the time limit makes it challenging for many candidates. Understand the Numeric Ability Section

The numerical ability section consists of 35 questions and to attempt this, 20 minutes will be allowed to candidates. Questions will be asked from subjects such as data interpretation, simplification, number series, percentage, profit and loss, average, problem on ages, etc., and the difficulty level of the exam will be between easy and moderate.

Strengthen Basic Calculation Speed

As the exam has time limits, the candidates need to work on their calculation speed to attempt the maximum number of questions, candidates should work on their calculation speed. The candidates should work on their multiplication tricks, learn squaring and cubing shortcuts, and also work on conversion of percentage to fraction methods. It is recommended to memorise cubes up to 20, squares up to 40, tables up to 30, fractions to a percentage, and vice versa conversion up to 1/25, Vedic tricks and rules. It will help them to focus more on difficult and time-consuming questions in the actual exam.

Learn Shortcut Techniques

Certain topics in the numerical aptitude section can be solved easily with the help of shortcut techniques like simplification, percentages, and profit & loss can be solved faster using shortcut formulas. This technique is also applicable in other related topics, such as partnership, speed, time distance, time & work, and mixture alligation.

Develop Daily Practice Routine

Candidates should develop the daily routine of practicing the questions, as speed comes with practice. Candidates are encouraged to dedicate at least 2 hours daily to numerical aptitude section, focusing on solving at least 50 questions daily by setting timers for practice sets and afer that analyse mistakes and start working on to improve weak areas.

Regularly Attempt Mock Tests

The SBI Clerk mock tests help candidates experience exam conditions before the actual examination. Practice on a full-length test to increase your speed and accuracy and it also helps in adapting to the pressure of the actual examination. 

How to Improve Accuracy in SBI Clerk Numerical Ability?

The candidates should also work on accuracy along with speed, as there will be negative marking in the examination so the candidate should try to attempt the questions with high accuracy. Some of the tips that candidates can follow to improve accuracy are listed below

  • Candidates should work on to clear the basic concepts; speed will be ineffective if the candidate does not have the concept clarity. So the candidate must have a strong grasp of fundamental concepts.
  • The candidate should not overrely on the shortcuts, as the shortcuts help the candidate to improve speed and excessive dependency on them will lead to errors 
  • Candidate should always solve as many questions from memory-based as possible, as it will help candidates to get familiar with the topics being asked regularly. 
  • Candidates often lose marks due to silly mistakes in calculations.So before submitting the questions, make sure to recheck crucial calculations; use approximations, but double check the close options.
