Sikkim Public Service Commission (SPSC) invited applications from eligible local candidates for filling up 23 posts of Sub-Inspectors on temporary regular basis in Government of Sikkim.

Sikkim Public Service Commission (SPSC) invited applications from eligible local candidates for filling up 23 posts of Sub-Inspectors on temporary regular basis in Government of Sikkim. Interested local candidates should send their applications in the prescribed format by post to the office of the Superintendent of Police of the respective districts on or before 20 September 2014.

Name of the post: Sub-Inspector (SI)

Total vacancies: 23 posts

Pay Scale: PB-2 of Rs.9300-34800 plus grade pay of Rs.3800 per month

(i) Sub-Inspector (Civil Police) for Male & Female: 5 posts            

01. Bhutia/ Lepcha: 1 post

02. Other Backward Class (Central List) (Women): 1 post

03. Other Backward Class (State List) (Women): 1 post

04. Scheduled Tribe: 1 post

05. Scheduled Caste (Women): 1 post

(ii) Sub-Inspector (Armed Police) for Male: 16 posts          

01. Unreserved: 2 posts

02. Bhutia/ Lepcha: 3 posts

03. Other Backward Class (Central List): 4 posts

04. Other Backward Class (State List): 3 posts

05. Scheduled Tribe: 2 posts

06. Scheduled Caste: 1 post

07. Primitive Tribe: 1 post

iii. Reserved posts for Departmental candidates of Police Department under Government of Sikkim with more than 5 years of unblemished service on regular establishment with other requisite qualifications: 2 posts

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Graduate; possess Sikkim Subject or Certificate of Identification issued by District Collectorate of respective district in Sikkim; conversant with the customs and usages of Sikkim; have valid Local Employment Card; have communicative skill in English/ Hindi, Nepali and Mother tongue.

Age limit

18 years - 25 years

Selection Procedure

Selection of candidates will be done through a 4-staged selection procedure. The plan of examination is as follows:

1st Stage: Preliminary Examination (Objective type) as a screening test.   

2nd Stage: Physical Endurance cum Physical Efficiency Test

3rd Stage: Written Main Examination    

4th Stage: Viva-Voce 

Registration Fees

Registration fees of Rs.150 is to be credited to ‘0051-SPSC’ in State Bank of Sikkim in cash using the Bank Receipt available with the downloaded application form.  

How to apply

Interested and eligible local candidates should send their duly filled in application forms along with original Bank Receipt of State Bank of Sikkim for Rs.150 credited to ‘0051-SPSC’ by post to the office of the Superintendent of Police of the respective districts on or before 20 September 2014 (1500 hours).
