SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2025

According to the SSC CGL Notification, the exam is divided into two stages: Tier 1 and Tier 2. Tier 1 was held from September 9 to 26, 2024, while Tier 2 is scheduled to take place from January 18 to 20, 2025. Candidates must clear each stage with a minimum SSC CGL cut off to qualify for the next stage. SSC CGL Exam Pattern 2025 for Tier 1 

The SSC CGL exam pattern 2025 for tier 1 is the first paper which is conducted by the SSC for recruitment of candidates for the next stage. Candidates must qualify this stage to be shortlisted for Tier 2 exam.

  • The exam consists of four sections: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension.
  • A total of 100 Objective type questions will be asked in the exam.
  • Candidates will have one hour to attempt all the questions.
  • It is a qualifying nature and marks will not be counted while preparing the final result.

SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam Pattern 2025 (Revised)

SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam is held in two phases: Paper 1 and 2, which are further categorized into different modules. Paper 1 is compulsory for all posts and candidates will have 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete it. This paper covers general subjects relevant to the SSC CGL exam and is designed to assess a broad range of skills. 

Paper 2 is specific to candidates applying for Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and Statistical Investigator Grade II positions, and they will have 2 hours to complete this paper.

What is SSC CGL Marking Scheme?

The marking scheme differs between the SSC CGL Tier 1 and Tier 2 exams. In SSC CGL Tier 1, candidates receive 2 marks for each correct answer, with a penalty of 0.5 marks for each wrong answer. In SSC CGL Tier 2, candidates earn 3 marks for each correct answer, while 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer.

Is there a Negative Marking in SSC CGL? 

Yes, there is a negative marking in SSC CGL exam and is applicable in both tier 1 and tier 2 exams.

In SSC CGL Tier 1 exam, there is a negative marking of 0.50 marks for each incorrect answer. In SSC CGL Tier 2, the negative marking varies: 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer in Section-I, Section-II, and Module-I of Section-III of Paper-I, while 0.50 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer in Paper-II.

Candidates must note down the given important points that are useful while taking the SSC CGL Exam 2024. 

  •  Objective-type questions will be asked in SSC CGL Tier 1 and 2 exams.
