Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) issued a supplement notification to announce an increase in number of vacancies, from 2 to 11, for Psychologist in Tamil Nadu Jail Service. While the two vacancies notified earlier were for the year 2004-2005, the 9 vacancies added/announced are fresh vacancies for the year 2012-2013.
Candidates who have already applied in response to the previous notification, dated 12 September 2012, need not apply.
Applications for the post are invited through online mode for Direct Recruitment. The Last Date for Online registration has been extended from 10 October 2012 to 19 October 2012 (2359 hrs) after which the link will be disabled. Last date for payment of Fee through Bank or Post Office also has been extended from 12 October 2012 to 22 October 2012.

Educational Qualification (as on 12 September 2012):
M.A. in Psychology or equivalent from a UGC recognized University /Institution.
[Preference will be given to candidates who have undergone training or who possess experience for a period of not less than one year in testing or clinical work in the field of Psychology.]
Examination Fees: A fee of Rs.175 (Rs. 50 as Cost of Application + Rs.125 as Examination fee) has to be paid either by online mode (through Net Banking, Credit card/Debit card) or by offline mode (Post Office or Indian Bank).
1) Candidates who wish to pay fees through the online payment gateway should visit the additional online fee payment page of the application form and fill in the requisite details to make payment and submit it. On successful
Completion of the online transaction, a Registration Number and Password will be generated. Candidates should note the Application Number and Password for future reference in respect of the post applied for.
2) For offline mode of payment, candidates should fill in the online application form -- select Post Office / Indian Bank in the fee details options -- and submit it. On successful submission of the form, system would generate along with Application Number and password, a fee payment challan. Candidates are required to note down the Application Number and password and take a print out of the challan, and go to the nearest branch of Indian bank or the Designated Post Offices, to make the payment. After depositing the fee, candidate should collect the candidate’s copy of the fee payment challan bearing details of Transaction Number, Branch Name DP Code Number and Deposit Date and retain it for future use.
Please check that the challan is properly signed by the Branch authorities. [Online Application Registration will be taken as successful one, only if the payment is made either in the post office or in the Indian Bank within two working days from the date of registration/submission of application].
A One-time Registration fee of Rs.50 has to be paid by new candidates. Those, who have already registered in the one-time registration system and paid the registration fee, should pay only examination fee. An applicant with a valid registration ID need not pay the application fee for a period of 5 years from the date of registration even if he applies for any other posts, subsequently notified by the Commission.
Candidates claiming exemption from examination fee will have to pay Rs.50 as Application cost. There is no exemption for cost of Application. Candidates have also to pay the service charges applicable to the Bank or Post Office or Fee Processing Agency.
How to Apply: Candidates have to apply only through online via the Commission’s Website www.tnpsc.gov.in or www.tnpscexams.net
Candidates should carefully fill in the online Application form along with uploading their photograph and signature as the online application is incomplete without the photograph and signature upload. They are advised to verify all the details filled in the application form before submitting it.
There is a provision to modify the submitted Online Application. Candidates are requested to make use of this facility to correct their details in the Online Application if any till last date of submission. Request for change/correction in the Application Form will not be allowed after the last date specified for applying online.
NOTE: No modification in fee payment details will be permitted for candidates who pay fees/ intimation charges through the online mode.
On successful submission of the application, an Application Number and password is generated. Candidates can print /save it in PDF format. Candidates can download their application and print it, at any time by entering the Application Number and password.
Selection Procedure: Selection will be made in two successive stages
(i) Written Examination;
(ii) Oral Test;
Candidates should have a valid, active e-mail ID / Mobile Number as TNPSC will send Hall Tickets (Memorandum of Admission) for Written Examination, Interview Call Letters, Other Memos etc. over the e-mail only. SMS of important updates/information would be sent on the registered Mobile number.
The Hall Tickets for eligible candidates will be also made available in the Commission’s Website- www.tnpsc.gov.in and www.tnpscexams.net for downloading by candidates. No Hall Tickets will be sent by post
