UPSEE 2016: Eligibility Criteria

    UPSEE is a key engineering entrance exam, through which students are shortlisted for admission to undergraduate and post graduate programme. With rising number of students appearing for UPSEE, the conducting body UPTU has laid down strict eligibility guidelines to screen students for the test. In case, any candidate applies for UPSEE examination without fulfilling the necessary eligibility criteria, UPTU can cancel the candidate’s application at any stage of the test. Therefore, before beginning the UPSEE preparation process, candidates must make sure they qualify the necessary eligibility criteria to appear for this exam. To help students understand the UPSEE 2016 Eligibility Criteria, we have laid out all information related to it below:

    UPSEEE Eligibility Criteria

    Academic Qualification: The candidate must have passed Class 12/Intermediate exam with minimum 45% aggregate marks. For reserved categories, the minimum aggregate marks requirement stands at 40%.

    Subject Combination Eligibility: For certain courses, the UPSEE eligibility is based upon subject combination taken up by the candidate in Class 12/qualifying exam. The details are given below:

    UPSEE Eligibility Criteria for Lateral Entry:

    • Engineering diploma holders and B.Sc graduates with Mathematics as a compulsory subject in Class XII are eligible for lateral entry admission in B.Tech programmes through UPSEE
    • Candidates with Uttar Pradesh domicile with an engineering diploma from an institute located in UP, with minimum aggregate marks of 45%(GEN) or 40%(Reserved) are eligible for lateral entry through UPSEE
    • Candidates, whose parents are domicile of Uttar Pradesh and holds an engineering diploma with minimum aggregate marks of 45%(GEN) or 40%(Reserved) are eligible for lateral entry through UPSEE

    UPSEE Eligibility for NRIs

    UPTU has allowed for 5% reserved seats for NRI candidates in private and state funded colleges of Uttar Pradesh. UPSEE Eligibility criteria for NRI candidates are given below:

    • NRI candidate should have passed Class XII or equivalent qualifying exam with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects
    • NRI seats are allotted only to daughter/son/real brother/real sister of NRIs, who have passed Class XII exam with minimum aggregate marks of 45%(GEN) or 40%(Reserved)

    UPSEE Eligibility for Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/Foreign Nationals (FN)

    • Candidate must have passed Class XII or equivalent qualifying exam with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as main subjects.
    • The candidate should also have a valid SAT II score.
