The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has announced the 1st common test for clerk recruitment in 19 public sector banks on 27 November 2011. The system of Common Written Examination has been approved by each of the 19 participating Public Sector Banks and the Indian Banks' Association (IBA) with the consent of Government of India.
This common exam score is necessary while applying for Clerk recruitments in the following 19 public banks which includes Allahabad Bank, Andhra Bank, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Corporation Bank, Dena bank, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Punjab National Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, Syndicate Bank, Union Bank of India, United Bank of India, UCO Bank & Vijaya Bank.
Candidates who appear for the CWE will be issued scorecards who secure minimum qualifying marks and above in each test of the examination. Score Cards issued by IBPS will be valid for one year from the date of issue of the Score Card. The participating banks will issue independent notification specifying their vacancies and stipulating the eligibility criteria and will carry out their own selection process. The successful candidates in CWE can then apply in any of the participating banks as per the notification.
