Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not address the annual debate at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session at the United Nations later this month, according to the revised provisional list of speakers released by the United Nations, in his place External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will address the General Assembly. This year the general debate of the 79th UNGA session will be held from 24 to 30 September.

India's experienced sports administrator Randhir Singh has recently been elected President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), becoming the first Indian to hold this position. He was elected during the 44th General Assembly of the continental body. Randhir's tenure will run from 2024 to 2028.
