Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not address the annual debate at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session at the United Nations later this month, according to the revised provisional list of speakers released by the United Nations, in his place External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will address the General Assembly. This year the general debate of the 79th UNGA session will be held from 24 to 30 September.

2. (a) Randhir Singh

India's experienced sports administrator Randhir Singh has recently been elected President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), becoming the first Indian to hold this position. He was elected during the 44th General Assembly of the continental body. Randhir's tenure will run from 2024 to 2028.

3. (d) Tuhin Kant Pandey

Tuhin Kanta Pandey has been appointed as the new Finance Secretary of India under the Ministry of Finance. The 1987 batch IAS officer was currently the DIPAM secretary. Pandey replaces TV Somanathan who was appointed as the new Cabinet Secretary of India. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Pandey as Finance Secretary.

Tennis star Aryna Sabalenka won the US Open title for the first time by defeating America's Jessica Pegula 7-5, 7-5 at Arthur Ashe Stadium. This is the third Grand Slam singles title for world number two Sabalenka of Belarus, she won the Australian Open for the second consecutive year in January. Aryna Siarhijena Sabalenka is a professional tennis player from Belarus.
