Dielectric Constant and Momentum

The dielectric constant is the relative permittivity of a dielectric material. It is an important parameter in characterizing capacitors. Momentum is a corner stone concept in Physics. It is a conserved quantity.

e) Dielectric constant

dielectric constant,  property of an electrical insulating material (a dielectric) equal to the ratio of the capacitance of a capacitor

filled with the given material to the capacitance of an identical capacitor in a vacuum without the dielectric material.

The dielectric constant k is the relative permittivity of a dielectric material. It is an important parameter in characterizing capacitors.

f) Density

DENSITY is a physical property of matter, as each element and compound has a unique density associated with it.

Density defined in a qualitative manner as the measure of the relative "heaviness" of objects with a constant volume.

g) Group index

The ratio of the vacuum velocity of light to the group velocity in a medium Group Index.

 h) Momentum

Momentum is a corner stone concept in Physics. It is a conserved quantity. That is, within a closed system of interacting objects,

the total momentum of that system does not change value. This allows one to calculate and predict the outcomes when objects bounce into one another.

Momentum is conserved in any collision if the effect of any external forces present is negliable relative to the effect of the collision.
