Difference Between Amrit Snan and Shahi Snan

This development is a response to the need to glorify ancient tradition and revive Hindu rituals in its original Sanskrit terminology instead of Urdu. It is done so as to uphold the sense of cultural identity among Hindu devotees.

The first Amrit Snan was on Makar Sankranti, which was an important date in the Kumbh Mela celebrations. Thirteen Akharas (sects) are involved in this ritual, which is considered to be very auspicious.
