Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first functional Prime Minister Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel ( PM MITRA) Park in Warangal, Telangana. This Project marks a milestone in India’s industrial and textile growth journey. It is a world-class industrial ecosystem designed to revitalise India's oldest manufacturing and textile sector.
The park aims to cut down production costs and make "Made in India" fabrics globally competitive. It operationalises the government 5F vision farm to fibre to factory to fashion to foreign.
Key Features of PM MITRA Park
PM MITRA Park in Warangal would accelerate the textile revolution in the country and it will create the large-sale employment opportunities especially for the women.
- A single location for spinning, weaving, processing, and printing, which significantly reduces "logistics lag." and provides the integrated infrastructure.
- The park includes a 10 MW solar power plant and a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) with Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) technology to minimize environmental impact by promoting sustainability and Green Energy.
- PM MITRA Park has common infrastructure facilities such as upgradation of the CETP to a Zero Liquid Discharge facility and a common boiler facility for processing units.
- The park is located near the proposed Nagpur-Vijayawada Greenfield Expressway(NH-163G) and close to NH-163, and Spread across 1,327 acres the park provides the multimodal connectivity to major railway networks and seaports to ensure the seamless connectivity for global trade.
The Warangal Mega Textile Park represents a huge financial influx which is fueled by a total project cost of ₹1,695.54 crore. This infrastructure is expected to catalyze a total investment exceeding ₹6,000 crore, headlined by anchor investor Evertop Textile, which is contributing ₹1,051 crore to the initiative.
The park is a major engine for social empowerment and projected to create over 24,400 direct and indirect jobs, with a dedicated focus on providing employment opportunities.
What is 5 F Vision?
The PM MITRA scheme of the government of India is based on the 5F formula of Vision. It is a strategic roadmap to ensure Indian textiles dominate every stage of the supply chain:
-
Farm: Sourcing raw cotton and natural fibers directly.
-
Fibre: Processing raw materials into high-quality yarn.
-
Factory: Large-scale manufacturing and garmenting.
-
Fashion: Designing apparel for modern global trends.
-
Foreign: Exporting finished products to international market
This park solves the long-standing issue of fragmentation. In the past, cotton was grown in one state, spun in another, and stitched in a third by consolidating these steps. The PM MITRA Park drastically reduces the carbon footprint and enhances the speed of delivery. It was the part of the Ministry of Textiles that even approved PM MITRA parks to strengthen a national ecosystem for textile infrastructure in the country.
