Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah presented his 16th Budget on Friday. The entire amount allocated for the Karnataka Budget 2025–2026 was ₹4.095 lakh crore.
The Karnataka Budget set aside ₹51,034 crore for the five guarantee schemes promised by the Congress government. The following are the main points of the Karnataka Budget 2025–2026:
Karnataka Budget 2025: Key Announcements
Capital Investment
- ₹82,000 crore has been allocated for capital expenditures.
- Karnataka ranks among the top states in capital investments.
Excise & Revenue: Liquor prices may be reviewed and increased to match neighboring states.
Reservations & Welfare: 4% Muslim reservation is introduced in government contracts and tenders.
Community Development
- ₹100 crore has been allocated for the development of Jain, Buddhist, and Sikh communities.
- ₹250 crore set aside for the advancement of the Christian community.
- Sannati Development Authority to be established in Chittapura, Kalaburgi, for the historic Buddhist center of Sannati.
Religious & Community Welfare
- Temple priests' annual salary increased from ₹60,000 to ₹72,000.
- Honorarium increased to ₹6,000 per month for Jain priests, Chief Grantis (Sikh leaders), and Pesh-Imams (Muslim leaders).
- Assistant Grantis and Muezzins will now receive ₹5,000 per month.
- A new building will be constructed at Haj Bhavan in Bengaluru for Haj pilgrims and their families.
Media & Language Development: Karnataka will launch its own OTT platform to promote Kannada language programs.
Women & Child Welfare
- ₹94,084 crore has been allocated for women-centric programs.
- ₹62,033 crore set aside for child-focused initiatives.
- National Foreign Student Scholarship for minority students increased from ₹20 lakh to ₹30 lakh.
Minority Welfare & Infrastructure
- Minority youth will be supported in starting new businesses through the Karnataka Minority Development Corporation.
- ₹150 crore has been allocated for repairing and renovating Waqf properties, improving infrastructure, and protecting Muslim burial grounds.
Entertainment & Public Welfare: Ticket prices in all theatres, including multiplexes, will be capped at ₹200 per show.
Media & Journalist Support
- The monthly pension for struggling journalists increased from ₹12,000 to ₹15,000.
- The family pension has been raised from ₹6,000 to ₹7,500.

Infrastructure & Urban Development
- ₹7,000 crore has been allocated for Bengaluru's overall development.
- ₹1,800 crore set aside for 21 projects under the Brand Bengaluru initiative.
Traffic & Transport Improvement
- 40.5 km double-decker flyover to be built for ₹8,916 crore along with Namma Metro Phase-3 to reduce traffic congestion.
- 300 km of new roads will be developed using canal buffer zones at a cost of ₹3,000 crore to improve connectivity.
Metro & Public Transport: Bengaluru Metro network to expand to 98.60 km, improving connectivity, including to Devanahalli.
Urban Planning & Infrastructure: A new satellite market will be set up on the outskirts of Bengaluru to ease congestion in city markets.
