On Tuesday, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad claimed 7 out of 11 Councillor Posts in the Delhi University Students Union Executive Committee.
The first councilor post was taken by Tushar Baisla of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad who also secured the highest number of votes. The others who were elected to the post of Executive Councillors included Vaibhav Chaudhry, Nishulk Kharb, Taranprit Kaur, Suryansh Singh, Ravindra Beniwal and Shubham Chaudhry.
ABVP Delhi State Secretary Sidharth Yadhav said that Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad’s victory in the Executive Councillor elections is a testament to an emerging determination and an accomplished organization of student activists. He also added that the ABVP has found its root as a sincere representative of the interests of the students which is also evidence of the support that the organization enjoys across the student community.
Akshit Dahiya, President Delhi University Students Union announced the win on his twitter account congratulating all the newly elected DUSU Executive Councillors.
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad won three seats in the Delhi University Students Union Elections conducted recently. The National Students of India, on the other hand, could claim only 1 seat. Akshit Dahiya of the ABVP won the presidential post by 29,000 votes defeating NSUI candidates Chetan Tyagi.
The posts of Vice President and Joint Secretary were won by ABVP’s Pradeep Tanwar and Shivangi Karwal of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad.
Sixteen candidates of whom four were women were in the run for the Delhi University Students Union Elections. 52 polling stations with 144 EVMs were set up for the voting. According to reports, 1.3 lakh students were eligible to cast their votes in the Delhi University Students Union Elections.
