
The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination has instructed all the heads and school principles to promote all the students from class 1 to 8 to the next grade without appearing for the examination. The council has taken the decision of promoting the students due to the COVID-19 lockdown in the country. However, the board has not given any instructions regarding the students of class 9 to 12.
The board had already released a notification regarding the postponement of class 10 and 12 board examinations. The new schedule of the postponed examination will be provided on the official website of the board shortly after the lockdown is revoked.
Gerry Arathoon, the Chief Executive and Secretary of Council in a letter to the principals and the heads of the affiliated schools have stated that with the lockdown imposed due to the COVID-19 situation prevalent in the country some of the board of the state governments have issued a directive asking for the students from class 1- 8 to be promoted to the next class without an examination. He further added that the CISCE schools must also follow suit like the state governments.
The Central Board of Secondary Education has also asked its affiliated schools to promote the students from class 1-8 to the next class along with state boards like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, etc
Along with this, the Ministry of Human Resource Development has also advised the schools to promote the students from class 9 to 11 as per the assessment, tests, projects end term exams conducted.
