The Project-Based Learning and Customised Learning Achievement Path (CLAP) modules have been launched by the Karnataka State Government for the benefit of more than 18 lakh primary class students in the state-run schools. Karnataka Minister for Primary and Secondary Education S Suresh Kumar launched the modules designed by Samagra Sikshana Foundation via Cisco Webex.
Close to 18 lakh government school children from classes 4 to 7 in 34 Educational Districts will be receiving these learning modules in order to continue learning at home. Cisco India and SAARC Director, Public Affairs and Strategic Engagements - Harish Krishnan who was also a part of the launch of the modules stated that Cisco will be collaborating with the Education Department and Sikshana Foundation to provide learning inputs to the students across the state of Karnataka during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in order to ensure that the learning process is not hampered due to the situation.
Karnataka School Reopening postponed
According to media reports, the Karnataka State Government Technical Advisory Committee has ordered the closure of the schools in the state until December 31, 2020 keeping in mind the ongoing pandemic situation. The expert committee formed headed by Dr. MK Sudarshan had notified that the increase in the cases in the other states has prompted for the postponement of the ripening of the schools. The committee has also stated that the response for the reopening of the degree colleges in the state has also not been encouraging with the parents and students deciding against it. The committee has also recommended a thorough review of the pandemic situation towards the end of the year to decide on the subsequent reopening date for the school in the state.
