
Delhi School Reopening Update: As per the latest update, Schools across Delhi are all set to reopen for Class 10 and 12 students from today i.e. 18th January 2021 in line with the announcement made by Directorate of Education, Delhi Govt. Schools are to be reopened with strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines including sanitization of classrooms, wearing of face masks, social distancing will be mandatorily followed. Moreover, students who are planning to attend schools from today onwards will also need to submit parental consent to authorities.
Schools to Reopen after 10 Months
Schools in the national capital are slated to reopen after a gap of 10 months, since their closure in 19th March 2020. Last week, Arvind Kejriwal led allowed schools to be reopened for students who are due to appear for the upcoming board exams. The schools have also been allowed to conduct practical classes for preparing students for the practical examinations.
Important Guidelines to be Followed
Taking into account the prevailing situation with regards to the pandemic, the state government has released a detailed set of guidelines and SOPs that are to be followed as part of the school reopening process. The important ones among them have been listed below:
- Orientation Programme: After reopening, schools have been asked to hold on-campus orientation to provide emotional support for students and teachers. Moreover, during the orientation programme, students will also be briefed about physical distancing and hygiene-related guidelines as well.
- Reduced Syllabus: After reopening of schools, teachers have been asked to discuss reduced CBSE syllabus, question papers and the mode of learning to be adapted accordingly. Schools will provide exam-related guidelines and necessary support to students.
- Sample Paper Solving: To help students prepare for the upcoming exams, school teachers have been asked to provide “Adequate written practice” of solving CBSE sample question papers.
- Pre-Board Exams as 3rd Assessment: For class 12 students, marks obtained in the pre-board examination will be considered as the third periodic assessment. The design of the pre-board papers will be “quite similar” to the CBSE board exam 2021.
- Subject Enrichment Activities: Winter vacation projects and assignments given to Class 12 students will be considered as Subject Enrichment Activities (5 marks).
- Worksheet Portfolio: Worksheets provided to the Class 12 students will be considered as portfolio (5 marks).
- Assessment Based Marking: Schools will conduct multiple assessments from February 1 to the last week of April (for 5 marks).
